HISTORY
When he was only six years old Julio Esteban Richter was forced to watch his father, an arms merchant, being killed by the time-tossed villain known as Stryfe. After the death of his father he had no real immediate family who wanted to take him in, so his step-mother brought him up on her own. However she kept in on the old family business and Julio was easily drawn into a life of arms trading.
Shortly after the death of his father Julio's powers manifested and he slowly learnt to develop, but not control, his mutant ability of releasing seismic energy through his fingertips, using it to create earthquakes, shockwaves or otherwise transport earth matter. A skill that he didn't tend to flaunt too much unless he wanted to make a point.
At somepoint during his teens he earnt the nick-name Rictor (the term used for seismic waves) which eventually become shortened to Ric.
When only 17 years old Ric was captured by the anti-mutant organization called the Right, who connected him to a machine that amplified his already uncontrollable power of earthquake generation to wreak havoc in San Francisco. Ric was freed by the original X-Factor team and was accepted by them as a trainee member along with Tabitha 'Boom Boom' Smith, Captain Okada, Rusty Collins, Sally Skids Blevins, and the Morlock Leech.
Having found a safe haven on the 'Ship' Rictor remained there for three years, his bond with Tabitha growing along with her crush on him. However the Right captured him again, and he almost killed himself to escape them. Tabitha had been the one to talk him out of it, and in the New Mutants he admitted that he owed her for it. After escaping The Right Again, he went back with the others, and they had seemingly chaotic days until X-factor decided to enroll them in college.
During his time at college Ric met a gorgeous yet quirky girl by the name of Ophelia, another mutant. Though at first she wasn't a huge fan of Ric over time she fell for his charm and they dated. Ric mostly had the Friends of Humainty (FOH) to thank for that but in the final year of college, Ric suddenly vanished just after their finals.
On the run from the FOH Ric joined a gang (New Mutants) for about a year before he left and became involved indirectly in terrorist acts. He had no inherited his fathers buisness in the arms trade and decided to work for an un-named Central American Army, supplying them with weapons and ammunition. For several years Ric enjoyed his time as a rebel leader, he dealt very little with combat but trained with the other recruits.
He ended up stumbling into Stryker after breaking into his offices and trying to steal files on a top secret mutant experiment, he wanted to support his role in an anti-FOH society. Destroying three of the buildings whilst still inside Ric was pulled free of the rubble and given the choice of becoming a part of the experiment or working for Stryker, Ric made the best choice and was swiftly packed up and dumped out in Africa.

Rictor is a mutant capable of generating and releasing seismic energy and tremendously powerful waves of vibrations in any nearby object, causing objects to shatter or crumble. When used against objects with a larger surface, the effects are much like an earthquake. Ric's powers appear to affect organic objects in much the same way as inorganic ones however Ric himself is immune to the harmful effects of the vibrations he creates. He has often expressed reluctance to use his powers in tectonically unstable areas, for fear that he could not control the effects.

Ric has never been quite clear on where he stands when it comes to men and women. He has had relationships with both and tends to classify himself as bi-sexual but in his own words as long as he finds something cute or sexy about it he'd consider doing it.
